Polynucleotides FAQs
What is Polynucleotides?
ExpandPolynucleotides are natural, highly-purified DNA molecules usually extracted from the gonads of fish.
How do they work?
ExpandCells have DNA, which is made of polynucleotides. When we inject more polynucleotides into aged and damaged skin cells, they help regenerate tissue by stimulating fibroblasts – a type of cell that contributes to the formation of connective tissue. Essentially, we are healing skin from within.
Is it suitable for everyone?
ExpandThis overall skin booster is very natural, so it is suitable for most people. Polynucleotides are natural, highly purified DNA molecules usually extracted from the gonads of fish; however, they may not be suitable for vegetarians.
Polynucleotide injections should not be used in areas where there is an existing infection, and they are not recommended if you are unwell in any way, if you are pregnant or breastfeeding or if you are taking certain medications. Our team will always ensure any treatment is right for you before beginning.
What is the before or after care?
ExpandIf you are having an eye treatment, we recommend you take arnica tablets, ideally a couple of weeks beforehand, to reduce bruising. Both arnica tablets and arnica cream can then be used for a week or two after any Polynucleotide treatments to help heal bruising. Vigorous exercise, sunbeds, sunbathing, or saunas are not advised in the immediate days following treatment.
How soon will I notice results?
ExpandPatients can expect to see initial results after three weeks, which will last six to nine months.
Are there any side effects?
ExpandSide effects are minimal. Immediately after the procedure, you may notice some swelling and redness, which may develop into bruising over the coming days. Arnica tablets or cream can help reduce any bruising which does occur.
Can I use polynucleotides alongside other treatments?
ExpandYes, absolutely. All of our polynucleotides can be offered as a stand-alone treatment or used in combination with any other procedure.
We have seen excellent results alongside dermal filler and botulinum toxin treatments.
How many treatments will I need?
ExpandYou will need two to three treatments spaced 3 weeks apart for the best and recommended results.
