Polynucleotide Injections
Polynucleotides represent one of the most genuinely exciting developments in regenerative aesthetics – treatments that work at a cellular level to support tissue repair, improve skin quality and address concerns that conventional injectables cannot reach as effectively. At Cosmetica, polynucleotides are used as part of a considered approach to long-term skin health.
What can polynucleotides treat?
- Fine lines and early skin laxity – by supporting collagen and elastin production
- Under-eye hollowing and dark circles – where caused by poor tissue quality rather than purely pigmentation
- Acne scarring – by supporting tissue remodelling and repair
- Uneven skin tone and texture
- Skin that has been through significant stress – illness, radiotherapy, environmental damage
- Neck and décolleté rejuvenation
How do polynucleotides work?
Once injected, polynucleotide chains interact with receptors on the surface of fibroblasts – the cells responsible for producing collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid within the skin. This activates a cascade of regenerative processes: increased fibroblast activity, new collagen synthesis, improved tissue hydration and a reduction in inflammatory activity. Polynucleotides also act as antioxidants, protecting existing skin cells from free radical damage.
How do polynucleotides differ from Profhilo?
Both treatments improve skin quality rather than adding volume. The key difference is mechanism. Profhilo works through a very high concentration of hyaluronic acid – improving hydration deeply and triggering collagen and elastin stimulation through the tissue environment. Polynucleotides work directly at the cellular level, activating fibroblast receptors and supporting tissue repair from within the cell. The two treatments complement each other well – Profhilo provides bio-remodelling foundation; polynucleotides add a layer of cellular repair and regeneration.
