Meso Microneedling FAQs
What is meso microneedling?
ExpandMicroneedling triggers a renewing and healing response in the lower layers of the skin, encouraging collagen and elastin production, with minimal invasion and downtime.
A series of microneedles push a nourishing serum underneath the skin, encouraging rejuvenation of the entire area.
Meso microneedling can help the skin look younger, diminish fine lines and wrinkles and assist with a range of complaints.
What should I expect during my microneedling treatment?
ExpandWe use Nanopore technology which is a form of virtually painless electric microneedling delivered by a pen-like stylus which doesn’t require numbing before treatment.
You’ll be comfortably settled on one of our hydraulic treatment chairs throughout, whilst soft music and lighting will help to relax you. Our clinician will then run the stylus over the area to be treated, causing tiny pin-pricks to the skin.
Treatment doesn’t take long – around 10 to 20 minutes depending on the size of the area.
Is Meso microneedling suitable for everyone?
ExpandMicroneedling can benefit skin of all types but your clinician will go through a medical questionnaire before recommending treatment. Some contraindications do exist, such as pregnancy and breastfeeding among others.
We ask that you don’t drink alcohol for 24 hours before treatment and avoid aspirin or anti-inflammatories for 3 days prior. Drink plenty of water.
How soon will I notice results?
ExpandSome patients may see results right away but for the best outcome, we advise a course of treatments. The number will depend on how effective each treatment is and how well your skin responds to meso needling.
Is it permanent or how long will it last?
ExpandThe lasting potential of meso microneedling will depend on each individual’s skin response to the treatment but we recommend maintaining the effects with regular courses. We suggest leaving at least a 2 month period before starting a new course of treatment – but you may find the results last much longer.
What side effects are possible with microneedling?
ExpandYou may feel slightly sore with some redness, swelling, burning or itching immediately after treatment but this will resolve within 24-48 hours. Massaging the treated areas will help alleviate any soreness and also helps to disperse the serum evenly under the skin.
If you bruise easily you may want to take arnica tablets for 7 days prior to treatment.
After treatment, avoid alcohol, saunas, swimming pools, waxing and any strenuous activity or exercise for 48 hours.
Don’t wash or take a shower for at least 8 hours. Avoid hot baths for 2 days.
Sun exposure must be avoided for 48 hours after treatment but if it’s necessary use SPF 50 at all times and continue drinking plenty of water.
How many treatments will I need?
ExpandFor the best results, we advise a course of 4-8 treatments, spaced around 2-4 weeks apart. Your clinician will advise you on the best spacing and number of treatments, according to your own skin’s response to the microneedling.
