Acne Laser Treatment FAQs
What is Acne Laser Treatment?
ExpandThis unique laser procedure helps eradicate acne and promote skin healing for stubborn and severe cases.
The ClearSkin™ laser uses a combination of technologies specially adapted to effectively treat acne. The laser deeply penetrates the skin, leaving the surface intact but causing damage to the sebaceous glands. This destroys bacteria and clears congestion.
At the same time, the cooling system helps reduce the heat effects of the laser, making the procedure more comfortable and the vacuum efficiently clears the pores.
What should I expect during my laser for acne treatment?
ExpandWe’ll need to complete a medical screening to make sure the ClearSkin™ laser procedure is right for you, before doing a small patch test to check for any adverse reaction. After 24 hours, if all is well, we can begin treatments.
Our laser specialist will review your skin concerns and create a bespoke course of treatment for you.
For each procedure, you’ll be settled in a reclined position on one of our specially designed hydraulic treatment chairs whilst music and soft lighting help you to relax.
During the acne laser treatment, you’ll feel the heat and light of the laser pass over your skin but the cooling mechanism will help make it comfortable for you. The vacuum will massage your skin as the pores are cleansed.
Is Acne Laser Treatment suitable for everyone?
ExpandWe don’t recommend treatment for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding, or those prone to keloid scarring. This procedure is also not right for those with hypopigmentation, any inflammatory skin condition, epilepsy or any kind of cancer.
How soon will I notice results?
ExpandThe results are cumulative but will improve after each acne laser treatment.
Is laser for acne permanent or how long will it last?
ExpandThis treatment provides a permanent resolution for existing acne. There is no way to guarantee that acne will not return at another time and your clinician may advise that you have maintenance treatments.
What side effects are possible with the ClearSkin™ laser?
ExpandImmediately following treatment you feel some mild swelling or redness but this will diminish quickly. This laser for acne treatment is not ablative so doesn’t damage the surface of the skin meaning downtime and side effects are minimised.
How many treatments will I need?
ExpandWe generally advise between 4 and 8 treatments but some people may need more than one course, depending on the severity of the acne. Ideally you’d have need to book two or three treatments a week.
Each individual will have a bespoke treatment plan set out at the start of the course.
