Profhilo Body FAQs

Profhilo Body is a world-renowned treatment for skin laxity on the body.  Profhilo has been used to rejuvenate the face for some time, but this special formulation now targets crepey, loose or sagging skin anywhere on the body.

Profhilo itself is a special formulation of two types of highly concentrated hyaluronic acid.  This deeply hydrates and plumps the skin, eliminating fine lines and wrinkles and allowing clinicians to remodel areas of the body.

It’s often used on ageing skin in locations such as the neck, decolletage, arms and knees but can also be used to treat loose skin after weight loss or pregnancy (once you have stopped breastfeeding).

This is an injectable treatment delivered via two sessions spaced four weeks apart.  After your first injections, you’ll receive a body patch applied to your skin to soothe and moisturise, along with a body cream to apply in the period between your two treatments.

You’ll receive a full consultation from one of our medical practitioners before treatment starts to ensure it’s the right product for your needs.  During the treatment, you’ll be settled in a reclined position in one of our hydraulic treatment chairs, whilst soft music and lighting aid relaxation.  Local anaesthetic can be applied to the treated area to minimise any pain.

We would not recommend Profhilo Body treatments for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding.  If you suffer from any specific medical condition, please consult with your aesthetic doctor, who can assess your suitability during your consultation.

It’s advisable to avoid vigorous exercise for 48 hours after treatments, and to steer clear from extremes of heat or cold (including sunbathing) for 14 days.  We also recommend you don’t drink alcohol or take aspirin for the first 12-48 hours after injections.

You may feel an immediate improvement thanks to the deep hydrating effect but the real results of the treatment will start to become visible a few weeks later.  This is due to the Profhilo encouraging the body to produce its own anti-ageing collagen and elastin.

A month after treatment, the skin will feel smoother, tighter and plumper, at which point the second treatment is needed for optimal results.

Hyaluronic acid treatments are not permanent because the ingredients are naturally absorbed by the body.  However, this happens gradually and after the initial course of treatment, a further treatment every 5-6 months should be enough to maintain the results.

You may feel a little bruising, redness or itching following treatment.  The area may feel tender for up to 72 hours but you can immediately resume normal activities and any discomfort will fade within days.
